I am endlessly curious about people – their interests, their relationships, their spiritual lives. Coaching allows me to put that lively curiosity to work as I partner with people to make changes in their lives. I grew up as the second of four children in a household that regularly welcomed people to the family table as friends. Good conversations abounded and gave me a love for the wonderful magic that happens when people really listen to others.
I am a Professional Certified Coach with the International Coaching Federation and received my training from the Coaching for Transformation program. I have been coaching since 2012 and have worked with over sixty people. I bring many experiences with me into the coaching process. I served as the Associate Academic Dean of the Drew Theological School from 2001-2011 working closely with both students and faculty. I directed a girls’ choir at St. Peter’s Episcopal church for nearly two decades and served as a mentor for many young women as they have grown to adulthood. I play several musical instruments and have learned many life lessons from the years of practice and the wonderful process of creating harmony in a small ensemble.
I received my B.A. from Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington and my PhD in Musicology from Columbia University in New York City. I have focused my research in two primary areas – music in medieval nunneries and hymnody in nineteenth-century America. I am the author of Performing Piety: Musical Culture in Medieval English Nunneries as well as many articles.
I love to hike, to sing, to play with my grandchildren, to read, and to travel. And I love to coach!
